Sol-gel simulation-I: Scattering response

► Sol-gels are recreated computationally using an aggregation algorithm. ► The concepts of recursion and fractal characteristics are used to propose a multi scale computational approach. ► Scattering response is predicted recursively from the molecular to the macro scale. ► The relationship between scattering intensity, functionality, and reactivity is highlighted. ► An analytical model that reveals the critical percolation density is proposed.
