• We investigate femtosecond filamentation using two-photon fluorescence technique.
• Self-focusing takes domination in filamentation at strong laser field.
• Linear diffraction prevails in filamentation at non-strong laser field.
• Fluorescent biological labeling materials have great potential application in laser induced filamentation.
With nonlinear fluorescence technique we have generated various stable filaments under excitation of femtosecond laser pulses from a Ti: sapphire system. The dynamic evolution of the filamentation has been measured and the corresponding mechanism has also been discussed. Especially, the generation of multiple filaments has been simulated numerically based on the linear diffraction effect of the aperture, which would enrich the study of the filament propagation of ultra-short laser pulses in complicated liquid media.
