Optical properties of α-Nd3+: Na3Y(VO4)2 single crystals - Potential laser materials

► Single crystals of Nd3+-doped α-Na3Y(VO4)2 have been grown by the flux growth method. ► The room and low-temperature spectroscopic properties of the single crystals were investigated. ► Parameters of Nd3+ emission in α-NYV crystal are typical for vanadate laser crystals. ► Nd-doped α-NYV crystal is a promising laser medium for solid state lasers.
