Polarized spectroscopic properties of a potential self-frequency doubling crystal, Nd3+:BaCaBO3F

► The polarized spectra properties of Nd3+:BaCaBO3F crystal have been recorded. ► The spectroscopic parameters have been estimated based on the Judd-Ofelt theory. ► Nd3+:BaCaBO3F has high absorption and emission cross-sections. ► Compared with most of borates, the quantum efficiency of the crystal is high.
