Cw and passively Q-switched laser performance of a mixed c-cut Nd:Gd0.33Lu0.33Y0.33VO4 crystal operating at 1.34 μm

► The passive loss of the mixed Nd:GdLuYVO4 crystal is experimentally measured. ► The stimulated emission cross-section of the Nd:GdLuYVO4 crystal is obtained. ► The Nd:GdLuYVO4 crystal induces the relatively serious thermal lens effect. ► Nd:GdLuYVO4 is more suitable for passively Q-switched laser radiation than Nd:GdYVO4.
