In situ X-ray diffraction measurements were explored with an HTK16 high-temperature camera during the melting process of YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO or Y123) thin films to study the superheating phenomenon around the peritectic temperature Tp (1010 °C). As the temperature increased, four kinds of Y2BaCuO5 (Y211) with different orientations occurred sequentially in the YBCO film. In addition, Ba2CuO3 and Ba2Cu3O5.9 with (0 0 l) orientation were found to form during the peritectic reaction. Combining the optical observations, the reasons for these products forming during the peritectic reaction and their preferred orientations have been studied.
