On the exceptional negative Seebeck effect in 3d-doped β-rhombohedral boron

► 3d-doping of p-type β-rhombohedral boron yields very high negative Seebeck coefficients. ► Simple charge transfer from dopant to host is excluded. ► The formation of gap levels by correlation between the 3d atoms via the boron framework is suggested.
