Growth kinetics study of the (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 grains in Ag/Ni composite-sheathed tapes

► This is the first report on the growth of Bi-2223 in Ag/Ni sheathed tapes. ► The Ic of monofilament Bi-2223/Ag/Ni sheathed tape sintered for 50 h is 3.6 A. ► The Avrami n-exponent changed from 1.48 to 0.62 after 20 h sintering. ► The thickness of Bi-2223 grains increase significantly after 10 h sintering.
