Distribution of local elastic constants in nanofilms of metals

► Distribution of local elastic constants of nanofilms was obtained by the stress-fluctuation approach. ► Two body and many body potentials were considered. ► The surface of the nanofilm is softer than the inner part. ► The elastic constants distributions are different for two body and many body potential films. ► The film becomes softer as the temperature grows for both types of films.
