In situ synthesis of silicon-substituted biphasic calcium phosphate and their performance in vitro

► Silicon substituted biphasic mixtures of HAp/β-TCP were prepared by in-situ co-precipitation. ► Substitution of silicon led to an increase in the unit cell volume. ► These structural distortions and disorders could decrease the stability of the apatite structure. ► Structure could increase the bioactivity.
