Structural, sorption and thermodynamic correlations from a layered barium phenylarsonate/n-alkyldiamine system

► Isotherms of intercalation of hydrated barium phenylarsonate with 1,2-ethylene-(a), 1,3-propylene- (b), 1,4-butylene- (c) and 1,5- pentamethylenediamines (d). ► The values obtained through a batchwise process decreased with increasing alkyl chain length of the diamine molecules. ► This decrease can be interpreted by considering the property of the diamines to diffuse into the interlayer space to easily interact with the available protons distributed on the inorganic support.
