Synthesis and characterization of mesoporous poly (4-methylvinylpyridinium hydroxide) as an efficient heterogeneous organocatalyst

► A mesoporous polymer was prepared as a purely organic heterogeneous basic catalyst. ► The catalyst was effectively employed for the Knoevenagel and Henry reaction. ► This heterogeneous organocatalyst showed excellent stability and recyclability. ► This novel purely organic catalyst can practically replace soluble bases.
