Structure and magnetostriction of Tb1−xNdx(Fe0.8Co0.2)1.93 alloys

► Nd-containing magnetostrictive compounds with MgCu2-type structure. ► Easy direction of magnetization (EMD) lying along <111> axis was observed. ► A rhombohedral distortion caused by a large spontaneous magnetostriction was detected.
