Correlation between acoustical and compositional parameters of borate and tellurite glasses

► A new semi-empirical formula for ultrasonic attenuation was presented. ► The relation correlates ultrasonic attenuation and compositional parameters of glass. ► The formula very well satisfies acoustical data of borate and tellurite glasses. ► Makishima and Mackenzie theory appears to be valid for all investigated glass samples.
