Welding of aluminum alloys through thermite like reactions in Al-CuO-Ni system

► Combustion synthesis reactions were utilized for welding of aluminum alloys. ► A composite joint reinforced by different intermetallic compounds was obtained. ► Using metal oxides as a part of raw materials makes the welding process economical. ► Furthermore, this process introduces new applications for thermite reactions.
