Effects of the Ti/Fe ratio on the phase composition and magnetic properties of mechanochemically activated Ti-Fe2O3 mixtures

► Mechanochemical treatment of Ti/Fe2O3 powders induces fast redox reactions at RT. ► Composite materials Fe/TiO2 or Fe/FeTiO3 are formed according to starting Ti/Fe ratio. ► These materials show high saturation magnetization and a relatively high coercivity. ► Heating favors the formation of FeTiO3, decreasing the magnetization and coercivity.
