Structure, thermal properties and mechanical properties of sPS-based nanocomposites with and without styrenic elastomer inclusions

► Toughened sPS/clay nanocomposites were prepared. ► The crystallizability of sPS decreased with the additions of clay and the tougheners. ► The presence of clay and tougheners facilitated the formation of α-form sPS crystals. ► The tougheners greatly increased the impact strength of the nanocomposites.
