Preparation and characterization of titanate nanotubes/carbon composites

► Titanate nanotubes/carbon composites were synthesized from TiO2-carbon composites. ► The carbon shell of TiO2 particles obstructed the reaction between TiO2 and NaOH. ► TEM, XRD, and Raman spectra reveal the formation processes of the TNT/CCs.
