Influence of microstructural inhomogeneity of individual sides of Fe81Si4B13C2 amorphous alloy ribbon on thermally induced structural transformations

► Differences in microstructure between two sides of alloy ribbon were observed. ► Influence of these differences on thermally induced structural transformations were investigated. ► Microstructural differences increased in initial stages of crystallization. ► Microstructural differences decreased significantly in fully crystallized alloy. ► Phase composition differences greatest in fully crystallized alloy.
