Effect of acetic acid on CO2 corrosion of 3Cr low-alloy steel

► With addition of acetic acid, corrosion scale becomes looser and sheds off easily. ► Cathodic reaction is enhanced by the reduction of un-dissociated acetic acid. ► Dissolution of Cr dominates the anodic process in solution with no acetic acid. ► Dissolution of Fe dominates the anodic reaction in solution with acetic acid.
