Structural and electronic properties of AlX (XÂ =Â P, As, Sb) nanowires: Ab initio study

► Stability analysis of five geometries of AlX (X = P, As and Sb) nanowires studied. ► Square shaped geometry of AlX nanowires is most stable. ► Linear and zigzag shaped AlP nanowires are semiconducting. ► Bulk moduli of all the linear nanowires are lower than their bulk counterpart. ► Lower bulk moduli defends the softening of material.
