Surface and interface characterization of nanoporous alumina templates produced in oxalic acid and submitted to etching procedures

► We produced nanoporous alumina templates by two step anodization. ► The effect of etching procedures on the templates was studied. ► The pores are more circular when electropolished aluminum is anodized. ► Etching procedures completely remove the barrier layer at the Al2O3/Al interface.
