Carbon particle induced foaming of molten sucrose for the preparation of carbon foams

- An easy method for the preparation of carbon foam from sucrose is presented.
- Wood derived activated carbon particles are used to stabilize the molten sucrose foam.
- The carbon foams show relatively good mechanical strength.
- The carbon foams show excellent CO2 adsorption and oil absorption properties.
- The process could be scaled up for the preparation of large foam bodies.
