Development of crystal texture in R-lean RFeCoNbB (RÂ =Â Nd, Pr) alloy during melt spinning processes

► We study the texture development during the melt spinning processes of R-lean alloys. ► A strong (0 0 l) texture parallel to the ribbon plane for (Nd,Pr)2Fe14B is obtained. ► The texture for R2Fe14B crystals can develop by a seeding effect of α-Fe texture. ► The anisotropic nanocomposite magnet yields Mr = 0.78Ms and large (BH)max = 25.2 MGOe.
