Enhancement of photovoltaic effect in nanoscale polarization graded ferroelectrics

► We report on the photovoltaic effect of a graded ferroelectrics nano-device. ► Such system has been identified recently as a novel geometric frustration system. ► It is first time we report such system can be utilized to generate photocurrents. ► The photovoltaic efficiency can be a few orders higher than nongraded ferroelectrics. ► The system's bandgap can be adjusted to match the light illumination.
