Enhancing blue photoresponse in CdTe photovoltaics by luminescent down-shifting using semiconductor quantum dot/PMMA films

► CdTe photovoltaics suffer from a filtering effect caused by the window layer. ► Commercially available semiconductor quantum dots are encapsulated in a PMMA film. ► LDS increases the short wavelength photo-conversion of a CdTe device. ► Analysis of long wavelength losses shows scattering to be the major loss mechanism. ► laser beam induced current measurements of films show gains and losses.
