X-ray tomography image-based reconstruction of microstructural finite element mesh models for heterogeneous materials

► We reconstructed the microstructural FE mesh models of heterogeneous materials. ► Image processing techniques are employed to accurately reflect the microstructures. ► Simple FE meshing methods are proposed to automatically build models. ► The efficiency and accuracy of the method are demonstrated by case studies. ► Numerical simulations are employed for verification of the reconstructed models.
