Elastoplasticity of auxetic materials

► Elastoplasticity of an auxetic material is investigated. ► Homogenization is done using finite elements using periodic boundary conditions. ► The auxetic effect persists and becomes stronger with plastic yielding. ► Plastic anisotropy weakens with plastic saturation. ► A macroscopic anisotropic compressible plasticity model is developed.
