Simulation of temperature distribution in single metallic powder layer for laser micro-sintering

► A three-dimensional finite element model for laser micro-sintering is put forward. ► In this model, the ANSYS μMKS system of units is adopted for finite element analysis. ► Also in combination with transition from powder to solid make model more accurate. ► Effects of process parameters on temperature and molten pool dimensions are examined. ► The center of molten pool is observed to shift slightly during the laser multi-track.
