Stacking faults in B2-structured magnesium alloys from first principles calculations

► γ-surfaces for {0 0 1} plane have a single maximum, and [1 0 0] is the easiest slip direction. ► There are two types of γ-surfaces on {1 1 0} plane for MgX alloys with B2-structure. ► Type 1 γ-curve resembles a camel-hump, containing one local minimum and two maximums. ► Type 2 γ-surface contains two local minimums, and b could be dissociated as b1 + b2 + b3.
