A study of finite size effects on cracked 2-D piezoelectric media using extended finite element method

► A finite specimen effect is observed in center and edge crack piezoelectric media. ► Fourfold enrichment functions in X-FEM are efficient and accurate to provide IFs and ERR. ► For center cracked specimen a ratio w/a ⩾ 10 gives a good accuracy to the infinite domain. ► And for edge cracked specimen a ratio w/a ⩾ 20 gives a good accuracy to the infinte domain.
