► Temperature or time was the main factors of controlling braze joint strength. ► Developing a Widmanstätten microstructure generates equal strength to base metal. ► Brittle intermetallic compounds like (Ti,Zr)2Ni/Cu deteriorate shear strength. ► Ti and Zr base filler alloys were the best choice for brazing Ti-6Al-4V.
