Solidification structure and crystallographic texture of strip casting 3Â wt.% Si non-oriented silicon steel

► Three as-cast strips with different initial solidification structures were produced by twin-roll strip casting process. ► The equiaxed grained strip displays weak and nearly random texture, but the columnar grained strip reveals pronounced {001}< 0vw> fiber texture. ► The deviation degree of the columnar grain from the normal direction decreases with the increase of melt superheat.
