Laser welding of Ti40Zr25Ni3Cu12Be20 bulk metallic glass

► Laser welding is introduced to weld Ti-based bulk metallic glass. ► No crystallization and defects are observed in the joint. ► The sound joint exhibits a high tensile strength of 1650 MPa, 93% of the base alloy. ► The mechanism of successful welding is discussed by means of numerical simulations.
