A NiAl- and TiC-reinforced Fe-based nanocomposite prepared by the rapid-solidification thermite process

► An iron-based nanocomposite was prepared using the thermite process. ► The composite consisted of ferrite, nano-scale NiAl and micro-scale TiC. ► The composite exhibited a high strength and excellent oxidation resistance. ► The thermite process provides a simple method to produce bulk nanocomposite.
