Microstructure and mechanical properties of carbon/carbon composites doped with LaCl3

► Addition of LaCl3 decreased the densification duration of C/C composites. ► LaCl3 affected obviously the microstructure of intrabundle matrix. ► LaCl3 enhanced the toughness and strength of C/C composites.
