Microstructural, mechanical and wear behavior of A390/graphite and A390/Al2O3 surface composites fabricated using FSP

► A390/Al2O3 and A390/graphite surface composites were fabricated using FSP. ► The effect of tool rotation and welding speeds on the microstructural characteristics of the surface composites was examined using optical microscopes. ► The hardness of the surface composites was measured. ► The wear performance of the surface composites was investigated and the worn surface of the surface composites was examined using SEM.
