Effect of annealing on microstructure and mechanical properties of bulk nanocrystalline Fe3Al alloy with 5Â wt.% Cu prepared by aluminothermic reaction

► Poor ductility at room temperature has restricted applications of Fe3Al alloys. ► Ductility of Fe3Al alloy can be improved by grain size refinement to nano-size. ► Bulk nanocrystalline Fe3Al based alloy with 5 wt.% Cu was prepared. ► That Fe3Al based alloy with 5 wt.% Cu was annealed at different temperatures. ► That alloy after the annealing had better plasticity, higher yield strength.
