Characterization of Ti-6Al-4V alloy foams synthesized by space holder technique

► Foams manufactured using magnesium and contained porosities in the range ∼43-64%. ► Foams with Widmanstätten structure exhibited elastic-plastic type stress-strain curve. ► Deformation bands perpendicular to the compression axis developed. ► There is a power law relation between yield strength and macro porosity fraction. ► The strength of porous cell wall changes with the square of neck size ratio (X/D)2.
