Mechanical behaviour of Nd:YAG laser welded superelastic NiTi

► The main innovations claimed are: understand rolling direction effect on mechanical cycling of laser welded NiTi. ► Functionality confirmed by stabilization of hysteretic response up to 8% strain. ► Welds tensile cycled exhibited superior functional mechanical behaviour. ► For applied stresses of 50 MPa below UTS the joints showed superelastic behaviour.
