On the self-consistent statistical theory of vacancies

► We model anharmonicity and vacancy from the same point of view. ► We calculate vacancy formation free energy for a triangular Lennard-Jones lattice. ► The concentration of vacancies show behavior similar to a three-dimensional case. ► Theoretical results are in good agreement with our Monte Carlo data.
