Powder synthesis and electrical, dielectric spectroscopic characterization of rare earth disilicates (D-Er2Si2O7): Transistor scaling-22Â nm or beyond

► D-Er2Si2O7 was prepared by solid state reaction method. ► Structural analysis is carried out by XRD, SEM and EDX. ► The dc conductivity is measured as a function of temperature. ► Dielectric characterization is made as a function of frequency and temperature. ► The possible conduction mechanism in both the dc and ac regimes is discussed.
