Improvement of compressive strength and ductility in NiAl-Cr(Nb)/Dy alloy by rapid solidification and HIP treatment

► The NiAl-Cr(Nb)/Dy alloy was fabricated by rapid solidification and treated by HIP. ► Rapid solidification refines the microstructure and precipitates significantly. ► The HIP treatment sphere the Cr2Nb precipitates and blunts their tip. ► HIP treatment also leads to some movable dislocations in the matrix. ► Rapid solidification and HIP treatment improve the mechanical properties greatly.
