Induced multiple heterogeneities and related plastic improvement by laser surface treatment in CuZr-based bulk metallic glass

► A controllable method for tailoring metallic glass composites by LST is provided. ► A composite structure with B2 CuZr particles was synthesized in CuZr-based BMG. ► The forming mechanism was elucidated using finite volume method simulation. ► The influence of LST on mechanical properties of the composites is evaluated.
