Phase and morphology evolution of TiC in the Ti-Si-C system

► TiC was synthesized by pyrolysis of [-MeSi(H)C≡C-]n mixed with Ti and TiSi2. ► This polymer of [-MeSi(H)C≡C-]n provides a unique source of C element. ► By varying the raw materials ratio, TiC with different morphologies can be obtained. ► Addition of fusing agent impels the formation of near spherical TiC crystals.
