Study of formation behavior of ZrC in the Cu-Zr-C system during combustion synthesis

► ZrC particles were produced via SHS reaction in the Cu-Zr-C system. ► The formation route of ZrC particles sizes was discussed. ► The ZrC particles were controlled by the reaction-precipitation mechanism. ► The addition of Cu to Zr-C reactants participates and promotes the SHS reaction.
