Additive manufacturing is nothing new to the powder metallurgy industry. It can truly be said that PM was founded on additive manufacturing (AM) and has embraced it from the start. However, the expression now tends to be reserved for layer-type AM or ‘3D printing’, which is how I’ll use it here.
