چکیده انگلیسی
In verifying the computational algorithms used in Monte Carlo codes, it is important to have analytical results of test/model problems. In this study, the simplified photon transport model problem in cylindrical coordinates is solved analytically by using the multi-collided angular flux approach; and the energy-, space- and angle-dependent solution of photon transport equation and space-dependent energy deposition profile are obtained. The fictitious element model introduced by Shuttleworth [The verification of Monte Carlo codes in middle earth, in: Proceedings of the Eighth International Conference on Radiation Shielding, Arlington, TX, 1994] is utilized to compare the analytical results obtained in this study with the analytical and Monte Carlo results given by Sood et al. [Verification of the pulse height tally in MCNP 5, Nucl. Instr. and Meth. B 213 (2004) 167; New results for pulse height tally verification in MCNP 5, Trans. Amer. Nucl. Soc., Winter Meeting 89 (2003) 456].
