High-localized cell irradiation at the CAS-LIBB single-particle microbeam

Single-particle microbeam is uniquely capable of delivering precisely a predefined number of charged particles to determined individual cells or sub-cellular targets in vitro. It is crucial to providing high-speed precision for living cell irradiation. This paper demonstrates high-localized single cell irradiation by using high-speed micropositioning stages at the CAS-LIBB single-particle microbeam. And the related cell irradiation protocols are also available. Applications of these mechanical assemblies to position individual cells to the right place precisely with absolute accuracy of ±1 μm per 100 mm and repeatability better than ±0.75 μm in the X–Y-axis, unidirectional repeatability better than ±0.1 μm in the Z-axis is demonstrated.
