Simulation of the pulse pile-up effect on the pulse-height spectrum

An approach for calculating the pulse pile-up effect for a realistic pulse shape is developed. The significant role of tail pile-up which is incorporated in the approach is demonstrated. An algorithm is developed for the accurate evaluation of the pile-up effect in routine calculations.
